The mechanism for the contacts is gravity, you have no connector to wear out, Just metal contacts that rest against each other. If you have a case, it's very likely you will have to remove it to use this. Most cases have no holes in the back for the charging contacts that this uses (the two contacts on the back lower part of the Blackberry). The only downside is that even a thin case will prevent the phone from charging.
