  2. After many times delayed, finally, the BlackBerry (9000) had been released to the market. After after I checked my friend’s BlackBerry (9000), I decided to keep using my 8310, not upgrade to 9000.

Yes, 9000 is a good cell phone, it supports 3G, can be used even in Japan and Korea, etc. There are lots attractive points to the customers.

    However, I found following disadvantages:
    1. You must have to set the correct time zone, otherwise, BlackBerry will not show you the right time. It is very bad. Motorola’s cell phone can pick up the date&time, and the time zone automatically, but RIM can not. It is very in-convenient especially when you are a stranger to a city.
    2. BlackBerry Bold 9000 User’s Guide doesn’t have any picture or Figure on it. It is very strange. Just for cut cost ?
    3. The balance of the body is very bad: the Display Panel looks too small although its resolution is higher than 8310. The function button area is too big, also the upper part of the Display Panel is too large. Because the Display Panel is too small, RIM can either make the Bold 9000 smaller, or use a larger panel.

BlackBerry Bold 9000 is a good one, but I don’t want to upgrade my 8310 to it right now.

  4. Simply put, worst phone I ever had. Anything that can go wrong with a phone went wrong with this one. If ever you got a phone and wanted to smash it on the floor, utterly frustrated by the sheer lack of quality — this is the ultimate product by Blackberry.

The phone looks nice. So, I was very excited when I got it. First, the emails would not go, I had trouble getting emails. The phone would drop several times in a call. I have been using AT&T for last 6 years around the same area. Inside workplace, the phone simply will not dial out and oh yes the battery it lasted only 15 minutes while you were on the phone. Even worse, many a time, I was on the call and the phone would just go blank, with the screen going grey with an error message. Another thing that epitomized sheer sleaze was the fact that whenever the voice mail messages popped up, it had an exception thrown by the software. FIrst time I saw it, I could not believe it. I suppose this is the worst job in any commercially available production level software.

It took me only three weeks to decide that its time that I short Research in motion stock, stop using BLack Berry and buy Apple Iphone instead. Beleieve me I have been a heavy Bberry user for last 5 years.

Simply put, I wont use this phone, given how unreliable it was, even if it was offered with a cash incentive. I suppose phone is an indisposable item in modern life.

Black berry simply does not cut it now. I am happy i returned my phone and have been extremely happy with my Apple Iphone.

  6. Why buy these $500+ phones new and get stuck with a 2-yr contract when the phone doesn’t last even a year?
It’s almost like BAIT & SWITCH by AT&T. They stop “carrying” the particular expensive phone in less than a year so when the phone dies in a few months AT&T won’t have to exchange it with a new one for you. . . but they got your contract for 2 years. . . with a cheaper phone in exchange. Before wasting your money on a new expensive AT&T smartphone, ask yourself if you’re ok with having to warranty exchange your new phone with a USED refurbished one in less than a year.

  8. I support many Blackberries at my company and bought this one. I love the Blackberry. The screen is fantastic, the sound is excellent and the operating system is a well-needed upgrade over the 8800 I had before.

The problem I have is that the mute/standby button on the top is stuck. AT&T says I have to go through Amazon since it’s within my first 30 days and Amazon is giving me a hard time. I called up three times and got hung up on twice with third time someone finally admitting to me that they’re having phone problems and to call back later. I call back and am told because AMAZON added an address in my address book with my middle initial when I got an Amazon card to buy something totally different and I removed that duplicate listing, even though I didn’t use the listing I removed and have the exact address in my address book that the phone was shipped to, I have to do a return and can’t do an exchange. This will take about two weeks to process. I email in twice with the same results. I suspect inept customer service reps but apparently finding a good one in the cell service department is impossible.

I am extremely disappointed in Amazon’s customer service. I only seem to have problems with them when buying cell service. Maybe I should finally give up since their cell service department’s customer service seems to be lacking.

  10. Blackberry does not honor their warranty. If you must get one, buy insurance. The USB connection breaks because of poor design. I have had two fail. One had insurance, the other did not. Blackberry claims that this does not happen and WILL charge you $180. There is no escalation. I got the device back with a broke screen and no battery (new one too). Poor design, poor software, and the worst customer support. You have been warned.
