  2. I had the original LX for a year before I got this phone. I’ve had this phone for 2 months now. To be honest I wish I hadn’t bought it, just so I could’ve saved the $250 I spent to get it. While the phone is good, my personal opinion is, is that if you already have the LX, save your money.

Comparing the ‘09 to the original –

    Pros:

Youtube. One of the main reasons I got this phone. I can entertain myself on youtube all day. It’s not as advanced as the iPhone, but it does have the basics. Play, pause, fullscreen/normal, volume etc. This is just for basic youtube, don’t expect anything flashy.

3G – Enough said. It has 3G Service. Much better, you can even chat on AIM while talking on the phone!

Facebook/Myspace/Twitter apps – Automatically installed, and free. I use facebook all the time, it’s a nice little feature when you’re on the go.

Better looking design – In my personal opinion the phone design looks a lot nicer, especially the back of the phone.

Much Better Camera – Looks a LOT better than the original LX.

    Cons:

Mood lights – One of my favorite things about the old LX, was the lights on the four corners of the phone. They took them off. Just a personal preference of mine, and I know a few others who were dissapointed that the new LX did not have it.

Battery – Now, this might be my battery and not a general issue. However, I noticed that on my old LX, when my phone was low on battery, no matter what I was doing, I would have at MINIMUM 20 minutes to find a charger. Depending on what I was doing, even upto 2 hours. This phone however, once that ! mark appears, you need to RUN to a charger. I’ve had it where I heard the “battery dying” sound, went to go to the other room and when I came back it was already dead. While the battery life itself IS longer, there’s less of a “Warning – Please connect to charger NOW” time.

Not many cons, and definitly the pros outweigh the cons. However, I still personally feel that if you have the old LX, and it’s in working condition, to hold onto it. If you can get this phone for less than $200, go for it. If this is your first sidekick in a while; Go for it. Just don’t expect much more if you’re upgrading from a LX to an LX ‘09.

Also while it feels that I’m downplaying the phone a lot, don’t get me wrong. The phone itself is great. I highly reccomend it to users who want to go on AIM, MSN or Yahoo. There is no AIM/MSN/Yahoo, like on the sidekick.
